CESS Network Weekly Report: System Upgrades, Testnet Enhancements, and Community Engagement
Weekly Highlights
The CESS Network successfully completed the adjustment of system parameters, such as token decimal places, after upgrading the Substrate framework for CESS Node. This ensured a seamless version upgrade and restored the CESS chain to its pre-upgrade state. The CESS go-sdk was also upgraded, with updates to system properties, configuration parameters, and associated code examples. Additionally, a new feature for querying consensus node staking information was added. Several issues encountered during testing of the new version of the blockchain browser were fixed, improving the display of information. CESS participated as judges at the pitch competition during Tech Week NY, sharing insights on decentralized storage, CD²N, and CESS AI Gap.
Project Development Details
The CESS testnet has been updated to v0.7.6 and consists of a consensus node and a storage node. The consensus node maintains the world state of the CESS network and serves as the “data authentication station.” The storage node provides verifiable storage space and serves as the “data storage pool” in the CESS network.
Consensus Node v0.7.6
Documentation for TEE Worker and Intel SGX was completed. System parameters, such as token decimal places, were adjusted after upgrading the Substrate framework for CESS Node.
Storage Node v0.7.10
An issue in the idle space proof module of storage nodes, which caused abnormal available space due to incorrect on-chain parameters, was fixed.
Decentralized Object Storage Service (DeOSS)
The go-sdk developer guide was improved by adding usage manuals for each module in the codebase and indexing them in the directory. A new feature for querying consensus node staking information was added to the go-sdk. System properties, configuration parameters, and associated code examples in the go-sdk were updated to be compatible with the latest version of the CESS chain. DeOSS was upgraded to be compatible with the latest version of the go-sdk, and all key functionalities were tested.
Blockchain Explorer (Substats)
Issues with the new version of the blockchain browser displaying inaccurate information about node numbers and storage capacity were fixed. Additionally, issues with the new version of the blockchain browser not syncing the latest blocks from the CESS chain in a timely manner were resolved.
CESS Website (cess.cloud)
Testing of the backend management system for the DAO cloud mining activity and genesis node activity on the official website was completed. The homepage directory index and some key reference links in the official documentation were enhanced to help users more accurately locate the target content.
Testnet Overview
130 days after the v0.7.6 testnet was launched, the CESS blockchain explorer provided more details. Users encountering issues while building a node are encouraged to seek assistance on CESS Discord. The testnet consists of 29 consensus nodes, 10,501 storage nodes, 22.60 PiB of verified storage space, and 30.90 PiB of total storage space.
Event
The miner reward event for the CESS testnet continued, incentivizing participation from storage and consensus miners. Participants can earn points while contributing to the network’s growth and development.
Community Activities
CESS participated as judges at the pitch competition held at the PwC building in NY during Tech Week. The team was thrilled to witness innovative ideas and groundbreaking projects and shared insights on CESS, decentralized storage, CD²N (Content Decentralized Delivery Network), and the CESS AI Gap.
Final Thoughts
The CESS Network continues to make significant strides in system upgrades, testnet enhancements, and community engagement. These developments reflect CESS's commitment to advancing decentralized storage and infrastructure solutions, driving innovation, and fostering a robust ecosystem for Web3 technologies.
