About the Project
ATOR is pioneering the development of the world's largest decentralized network for internet privacy, utilizing a globally distributed set of relays. These relays contribute their bandwidth, computing power, and services, earning ATOR tokens in return. By leveraging an advanced onion-routing network, ATOR ensures superfast, secure, and anonymous web browsing. This innovative network will host a marketplace of dedicated services built directly within it, providing unparalleled privacy and freedom for all users.
The ATOR Network stands out as a truly open and decentralized privacy network, free from centralized control by directory authorities. This openness allows all non-malicious developers, relays, and participants to utilize the network without hindrance. The ATOR Protocol plays a crucial role, rewarding relays in real time with ATOR tokens for their contributions. The protocol, combined with ATOR's robust education, hardware, and tokenomics strategy, will drive the network's global scale, forming a dynamic and incentivized relay ecosystem.
The ATOR Relay Hardware, a low-powered computing device, enables even non-technical users to contribute to the network by sharing their bandwidth and computing power, receiving ATOR tokens passively. This hardware also allows users to route their home internet traffic through the ATOR network, providing end-to-end encryption and a decentralized VPN experience. Furthermore, the ATOR Services Interface facilitates seamless interaction with various services hosted directly on the network, such as streaming, messaging, and marketplaces, enhancing the anonymous internet experience. Through this innovative approach, ATOR aims to revolutionize web browsing, creating an anonymous, free, and open internet layer accessible to everyone.
Use Case
Anonymous Web Browsing
Users can browse the internet anonymously, enjoying a secure and private online experience free from surveillance and data tracking.
Incentivized Bandwidth Sharing Participants can contribute their bandwidth and computing power to the network and earn ATOR tokens in real time, incentivizing global network growth.
Decentralized VPN Services With the ATOR Relay, users can route their home internet traffic through the ATOR network, benefiting from end-to-end encryption and enhanced privacy.
Hosting Mainstream Web Services Anonymously The ATOR Protocol facilitates anonymous onboarding of mainstream web services, enabling private storage, endpoints, and directory authorities.
Enhanced Streaming and Messaging The ATOR Services Interface allows users to interact seamlessly with streaming and messaging services built directly into the network, ensuring privacy and security.
Decentralized Marketplaces Users can access and trade in decentralized marketplaces hosted within the network, leveraging the Arweave token protocol for secure and anonymous transactions.
Accessible for Non-Technical Users The user-friendly ATOR Relay Hardware makes it easy for non-technical users to join and contribute to the network, earning tokens passively.
Technicals
Origins of the Internet The Internet began as an open network for peer-to-peer communication but has become dominated by a few ISPs that monitor user activity.
Privacy Challenges The rise of cloud computing and big data processing by major search engines has eroded privacy and anonymity online.
Tor Network Tor is a widely-used tool for anonymous communication, helping users bypass censorship and maintain anonymity, crucial for journalists, whistleblowers, and cryptocurrency users.
Tor's Challenges Despite its benefits, Tor faces issues like insufficient relays, vulnerability to DDoS attacks, and malicious exit nodes, which hinder its mainstream adoption.
ATOR Initiative ATOR proposes a blockchain-based recognition mechanism to reward Tor relay contributors anonymously and equitably, promoting a more resilient infrastructure for Tor.
Onion Routing Onion routing, introduced in the mid-1990s, encrypts data through multiple nodes, making it nearly impossible to trace back to the source, ensuring secure online communication.
Incentives for Running Nodes ATOR addresses the lack of incentives for running Tor nodes by offering rewards through the ATOR token, encouraging broader participation.
Combining Blockchain and Tor Integrating blockchain technology with the Tor network enhances security and robustness, providing a sustainable solution for anonymous communication.
Addressing Privacy Issues ATOR aims to make Tor mainstream by addressing privacy concerns, particularly in regions with political unrest and censorship, such as Ukraine.
Continuous Development The ATOR whitepaper is an evolving document, reflecting ongoing development efforts to enhance the protocol and support the Tor ecosystem.

Token
Fixed Total Supply The ATOR token is an ERC20 token with a fixed supply of 100,000,000 tokens, ensuring scarcity and stability.
Circulating Supply As of September 2023, 75% of the ATOR token supply is circulating, including tokens within LP pairs and exchanges.
Relay Rewards Pool 10% of the total supply is allocated to fund perpetual rewards for Tor relays, incentivizing network participation.
Vested Supply 15% of the supply is linearly vested over 18 months to support outreach, partnerships, development, listings, and team funds.
Fair Launch ATOR was launched without a presale or VC holding, using a unique raise contract and a 4/4 tax for trading on Uniswap to self-fund the mission.
Locking for Rewards To receive ATOR rewards, users must lock 100 ATOR for 180 days. After 180 days, the tokens remain locked to continue receiving rewards.
Multiple Relays Users can operate multiple relays from the same wallet, with each relay requiring a 100 ATOR lock.
Delegated Locking The lock contract allows delegating a 100-ATOR lock to another ETH wallet, enabling gas-less registration for relay operators.
No Lock Requirement with Device Purchasing a physical device removes the need to lock 100 ATOR tokens to earn rewards, simplifying participation.
Perpetual Reward Pool The reward pool starts with 10,000,000 tokens, distributing a fixed percentage of remaining funds each epoch to ensure sustainability.
Epoch-Based Rewards Each epoch lasts 15 days, with the daily reward rate set at 0.100% of the pool's tokens, gradually decreasing over time.
Gradual Reward Reduction This structure ensures a gradual reduction in rewards, targeting an annual inflation rate of around 3.5% initially, with a pool half-life of 693 days.
First 60 Days Distribution The pool distributes tokens daily, starting with 10,000 tokens per day in the first epoch and adjusting based on the remaining pool balance.
